    • Thanks, Jane. Sound effects? What sound effects? They were the real thing. Except for the machine gun of course. I had to use a sound effect for that because the Howitzer I actually used sounded too loud on the recording.

(Note to GCHQ et al: Just kidding about the Howitzer. Honest.)

  1. Hee hee hee… The line about all those people who keep promising to help with the harvest had me laughing out loud – probably because before you said it I was thinking, hmm, must go and help one year….

  2. Rob, kalimera!
Thanks for this pithy descriptiion of your olive harvest. We are harvesting ours in January and I am enjoying your podcast today…We have a house with 22 trees on Crete and I recognise all of your accidents and anecdotes; I feel sure I have a resulted tinitus from the repeated head banging with low hanging olive branches. I have also regular doses of olive pickers elbows! We have a friend Penny(!) who helps, reluctantly, with the harvest. Altogether brilliant! Best wishes, David

    • Thanks, David. Much appreciated.

I thought it was just me being accident prone but apparently not. Perhaps we should form some kind of olive harvesters support group.

I’d love to be able to offer to come and help with your harvest in January, but unfortunately I’m er… busy for the whole month.

      All the best,

  3. Enjoyed that Rob – could relate to every bit, you old cynic. Bashing the trees today Josie actually told me to ‘Stop quoting Rob every 2 minutes’

  4. suffered mild concussion on occasions Rob, I remember lots of mild concussion times at Avon Touring .. thought that was a permanent state. Made me larf tho! Meg
