Loved your book it was interesting and funny. I wonder about the refugees! Have they impacted your life at all? How is the country taking care of these people?

Hi Vicki. Great to hear you enjoyed ‘A Kilo of String’. The refugee situation is a major problem — not least for the refugees themselves, of course. We’re on the west coast of the Peloponnese, and most refugees that survive the trip usually land in the islands in the east. The Greek government is doing its best to cope with the influx, but most other EU states have done very little to help — e.g. closing their borders and refusing to take in their quota of refugees.

Love “A KILO OF STRING”! Your humor is “SPOT ON” as they say! You do know who THEY are right? I relate to the life in the foreign countries, things that at the time are a LITTLE mindboggling are good for a chuckle in hindsight. Interesting to hear about the quaint quirks of the Greek government, seems USA is following in that direction. Being 80 yrs young, I am now an armchair traveler so love the tales of all expats! If the photo on your HOME page is from your kitchen window, I would like to make reservations!! Best Wishes.

There’s nothing wrong with armchair travelling. I’m quite a fan of it myself, particularly as it doesn’t involve having to get on an aeroplane!
The photo on my website isn’t actually from our kitchen window but from the (flat) roof of our single storey house. The view is one of the main reasons we fell in love with the place.
